Why is this artwork unique?
If you’ve seen something similar, it’s different, imitation or fake. The Liquid Lines style, developed over the last 20 years, uses infinite lines as the foundational element of paintings, seamlessly connecting logical relationships between parts of objects in time and space, blending reality with abstraction, creating unique and distinctive visual language. Why is this artwork unique?
First, the style framework. Take a look at any of Radek painting, pick any line, anywhere. Follow it. Does it end anywhere? No. It can’t be interrupted, the line is infinite, liquid, merging and splitting with another lines, but never brutally terminated. It offers a discipline, an order, a sense of structure, the balance. Have you found a line that abruptly ended in any of Radek’s paintings? Let us know, you might have won a price.
Then the painting technique. An acrylic paint is used mostly, with modern colours having the same resistance as oil colours, and also the same brightness if used properly. Their advantage Radek is exploiting to maximum is various levels of transparency. The colour at the specific place of the painting is therefore not created by one thick layer of paint, but rather more layers of various colour tones and structures. It is not an exception that parts of paintings are created from 30 and more layers. Areas between lines can be connected although not visible at the first sight and they can be connected even under and over the lines. Is it laborious? Yes. Is it organised? Absolutely.
Then there is the visualisation. By breaking down fundamentals of painted objects you can achieve something that has never been tried before in its entirety and complexity. Parts of the objects how it looks now, how it looked, how it will look. Still, moving, present or not present, in a full light, in dark, real or dreamed, laughing, screaming. All presented at once.
You might have the sense that art is a reflection of the inner world of the author. More on that in About Radek’s inner world below. There are additional elements of the artwork that can be experienced only if you’re exposed to it for some time. More on that in Considering buying art? below.
About Radek’s inner world
Who cares? There are millions of artists out there. But if you are serious about finding the potential of the Radek’s artwork over time, you might feel lucky to have this chapter available. The decision whether to have it here or not was not easy after all.
There are decisions behind everyone’s life and these choices designate one’s level of experience, imagination, creativity and impact. To decide to focus on one activity means having a very deep level of understanding and having a great impact, in the specific area, sometimes beyond. There is another approach chosen by many famous polymaths, that is several areas of the focus, with a great level of synergy and cross-field inspiration. It demands the highest level of organisation and optimisation. It empowers a greater possibility of innovation. As Radek says, this is not a matter of choice, this is a matter of inner setup embodied.
And that’s why you find visible or hidden aspects of these synergistic pursuits in the artwork. From the architectural design and construction, through custom vintage motorcycle designs, cider making on a farm field with focus on maximum sustainability and species variability, business in cybersecurity and rental, unique social experiment Nothing, to thought concepts to allow mankind propel humanity and exploration levels.
Considering buying art?
Good, let us elaborate on why we think so. First and foremost, there is something that art can do. Insight into your own soul. Having the artwork visible at premises you occupy as living or working space, it affects you, and whoever is present at the place, even if you’re not looking at it all the time. Whatever object you are surrounding with, it forms who you are inside and vice versa. Do you want your thoughts to be more beautiful, have more depth? The artwork in your place has a positive impact on your mental well being (additional info this external link).
And the easiest way to help artwork to boost your emotions is to hang a few pieces of quality art around you. Something created by another human being, hence someone sharing the individual and collective life experience. Something crafted with emotions and time. Having such a high expectation from the artwork, it must be a quality one (which automatically doesn’t mean expensive). But how to recognise that art is good in general and for you?
There is one way to find out. Leave aside all the other options when you follow a professional gallerist, art critic or curator advice, reading art publication or follow auction houses. You shall give it a bit of time and not necessarily yours. If you are interested in an artwork, simply hang it in your place and leave it there for at least one month, three months is better. If you find the artwork interesting after this time period, you are still discovering new details, new thoughts, then there is a good chance that the artwork will develop a relationship with you for a much longer period and the time will make the artwork better and more valuable. For you and most probably for others too.
So what we really say is that if an artist or seller is serious about the art, he should have no problem in agreeing to rent the artwork. And although we arrange rental of art primarily for Radek Štencl, we might advise you on the art rental in general too. Or we recommend checking rental specialists at Renteden, to whom we had a good and seamless rental experience.
Now, the money. Skip this part if you find it offensive. Like with other products, an artwork is completed when sold and can extend its purpose. A good art can store value and grow it over time. Buy from a gallerist? Sure. Or in an auction? Why not, there are beautiful pieces available. Just negotiate, fiercely. And do research what you are buying. But why not buy directly from the artist? You get to know him in person, you get a great price without any commission, you can even get an option on the artwork that has not been created yet. Artists can be awkward beings, same as the negotiation with them. But they are extremely interested in who is buying and how the artwork will be utilised. Co if you have a chance, go for it. You usually get a good price before the artist’s breakout, when becoming too famous, too in demand, too unreachable. Or you find out it’s not worth your investment. Either way is good for both parties.
To demonstrate the difficulty to catch a good price before the artist’s breakout, let’s see this chart that visualises data of real prices of the Radek’s artwork sold. A – experimenting with various styles, having fun. B – realisation the artistic endevaour must be serious to create something unique, working hard. C – built art studio, first exhibition of the Liquid Lines series paintings, secondary market and sale in auction developed. D – have prices gone up too much? E – a projection based on the current demand.
One more note on the art generated by AI artificial intelligence since we got related questions a lot. We are biased, true, however, taking everything into consideration, we don’t see any valuable art to be created by AI anytime soon, if ever. It can be aesthetically well done. It can be technologically taken to limits we can’t even imagine today. But there will always be one part missing, the experience of life as people have it. To be in love, to lose a newborn baby, to experience the tragedies of war, to feel the collective soul and have joy from common achievements, that’s all part of non-transferable experience. You can’t get AI to learn it, you can’t precisely describe it. That’s what valuable artwork contains, that’s what AI art will never have.
